End of term Christmas celebrations at BSW

There’s such a positive atmosphere around school this week as we bring the term to a close. Almost 400 students opted for a Christmas dinner today and the canteen was filled with brussel sprouts, Christmas jumpers and smiles. The meals were very well received, although we have to admit there were a few who turned down the sprouts!

Huge thanks to our kitchen staff for managing such high demand so well. It’s no mean feat making a Christmas meal for any regular sized family but delivering 400 plates is a staggering accomplishment.

As well as wearing our festive jumpers and eating our turkey dinners we also received representatives from the Worthing Churches Homeless Project who came in to collect the donations from you all. They were overwhelmed by our generosity once again and went away heavily laden with gifts and useful items from their wish list. Thank you all for taking the time to bring or send in your donations, the charity is one that is very close to our hearts and it’s lovely to be able to call our annual collection a tradition – as a new school, it’s one of our first!

As well as the items from the donation list, student volunteers have been busy making sweet treats to send along to the Worthing Churches Homeless Project Headquarters, At the St Claire’s Community Hub where over 20-10 local homeless people are supported every day. Special thanks to Mr Pearson and Mrs Ridsdale for organising the charity drive this year and to Mr Staples for organising the bake off!

In addition to the announcement of the winner of this term’s House Cup, tomorrow’s assembly will recognise and celebrate the many accomplishments of our students over the first term of this academic year, including academic, attendance, extra-curricular and more but we wanted to take this chance to thank you as parents and carers for the hard work that you have put in to all of those successes too.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
