Trips & Visits

At Bohunt Worthing we believe that trips and visits are incredibly important in developing the academic ability, independence and confidence of our learners. Our list of trips and visits evolve as the year progresses. Just read a few editions of our BSW Blog to get a flavour of the experiences our students get involved with.  Below is a snapshot of some of the trips and visits planned:

Residential Trips for 2017/18 and planned trips for 2018/19:

  • Our first school ski trip departed for Italy in March 2018.  Students went to Knockhatch dry ski slope in preparation in January /February 2018.
  • Residential trips to the Opal Coast for Y7, and a Bushcraft camp for Y9 will take place the week before May 2018 half term.
  • The Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) and Confucius classroom status have opened up opportunities for subsidised visits to China – the first for Y9 and 10 will be in October 2018.  We were oversubscribed for the number of places. Currently 25 students have been offered a place. The MEP trip will be in July 2019 for Y8.
  • After a parents’ evenings and an interview process, 16 students in Y9 and Y10 signed up to a charity linked trip in Summer 2019 to Sri Lanka for the Tea Project. The cost is c.£2500 with the school assisting with the fundraising plan.

ERA Week May 2018

In 2016/17 we held our first ever ‘ERA Week’ and it was a huge success. It provided the opportunity for students to have new experiences and learn new skills. Organising 400 students into activities, with over over 4,000 choices made by students was a huge task. We had our first residential trip to the Opal Coast with Y7 and our first Bushcraft trip with Y9. The feedback was incredible and this year we look repeat this, and more, for nearly 600 students.

2017/18 Era Week plans are still being finalised but are shaping up to be a fantastic experience for students, both in school and out. Day trips out to activities in West Sussex and central London are planned. The final day of the week will involve a whole school sponsored walk to raise funds for the Tea Project.
