As part of our program of events for Healthy Eating Week 2018 we are running our first ever live streamed online ‘cook along’.
All our students, parents, carers and friends are invited to tune in to the Bohunt Times Live YouTube Channel and cook a healthy, tasty and affordable family meal on Friday 8th June from 5pm to 6pm. The cook along will be hosted by Louie Rowe, Chief Technology Editor for The Bohunt Times and Presenter of The Bohunt Times: LIVE and will feature the undoubtable skills of our favourite chef, Mr Staples, BSW’s own food and cookery teacher.
Below, you will find an ingredients and equipment list, please have these ready in your kitchen before 5pm on Friday 8th June, 2018 when we will go LIVE. The YouTube channel will be shared in the days preceding the event. All you will need to do is tune in and follow Mr Staples’ handy instructions. During the broadcast, viewers will also be treated to a healthy breakfasts demonstration, a panel of expert tasters who will be championing healthy eating and collaborative cooking as well as an informative segment about healthy choices available in the school canteen.
Chicken or tofu stir-fry for 2 people (increase as needed based on numbers)
Ingredients 2 x chicken breast or 100g tofu (protein) 150g Raw prawns
½ red chilli, deseeded and sliced
1 glove garlic, crushed
1cm fresh ginger, finely chopped (optional)
1x10ml spoon oil
½ red onion, sliced
1/3 green pepper, sliced
1/3 yellow pepper, sliced
2-3 mushrooms, sliced
1x10ml spoon soy sauce
150g medium egg noodles
Finishing touches (optional)
Teaspoon sesame seeds
Teaspoon sesame oil
Wooden spoon or heat proof spatula
Healthy Eating Week 2018 runs from 11th – 15th June 2018, in addition to the cook along we will also be running in school taster sessions and lots more opportunities to encourage our students to eat well and feel healthier.
