On Saturday 23 June at 11am we open our doors to the local community for an Art Festival. We are venue no. 54 on the Worthing Artists Open Houses trail.

The festival runs from 11am to 3pm and will be officially opened by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Hazel Thorpe at 11am.

At 11.15am the Bake Off cake competition judging will take place in the Atrium. Cakes donated by students and staff will be judged by our select panel consisting of Mr Whitehead, the Deputy Mayor, Vivien Makovik (BSW Parent Governor) and Lorraine Poole (BSW Parent). Once the serious judging is over, all cakes are available to purchase. All proceeds from the sale will be going towards the T.E.A. project.

You can also buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win an adorable Bo-Deer (kindly created and donated by Vivien Makovik). There are two deers to win, affectionately named Nelson and Alan, in homage to two of our three houses; Mandela and Turing.

We’ll be joined by Art-K group, Helen O’Grady Drama Academy and West Sussex Music, artwork by pupils from Thomas A Becket Junior School will be on display and Worthing Gymnastics will be on show in the Sports Hall.

Our students have been rehearsing for the Grease medley and also for the drama performances of work by local writer Alain Presencer. The Grease Medley is at 12.00 in the Atrium, drama productions ‘Soul Voices’ and ‘Cross Fire’ will be performed in the Drama Studio at 1.45pm.

Artwork created by Gaia and on display in the Art Room, G42, where you can join GCSE art students running a workshop to create a candle holder.

Mrs Day joined the Worthing Artists Open Houses team to make bunting months ago and on Saturday you’ll see it blowing in the breeze on the main entrance and on the outdoor picnic area.

If your energy levels start to dip you can purchase food and drink from our outdoor picnic area, where Don Quijote will be providing a South American BBQ, Happy Crepes are providing sweet and savoury crepes and Giuseppe’s Lite will be providing refreshing gelato in a selection of mouth-watering flavours. The choir and Bohunt soloists will be performing outside in the picnic area at 1.15pm.

You’ll be given a handy leaflet with a map and timings of the day’s events when you arrive, so you can have fun discovering all the wonderful creative activities taking place during the day. We look forward to welcoming you, hope you enjoy our Art Festival and leave feeling inspired!
