We focus on the main ingredients of learning a language; phonics (sounds), vocabulary and grammar targeting core irregular verbs to have, to be, to do, to go and regular ER verbs in the present tense.
We enable students to describe both themselves and others across a range of topics focussing on high frequency and practising the content through all four skills; listening, reading, speaking and writing.
We study a variety of French themed game changers in areas such as history and sport, and take opportunities to discuss culture including our culture passport and MFL padlet.

We continue to focus on the phonics, vocabulary and grammar, extending students to start talking about themselves and others using both the past and future tense enabling them to describe both past events and future intentions.
We also practise important regularly used irregular verbs in French to improve the confidence of our students alongside embedding their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills.
Students also find out about more French themed game changers alongside multi lingual English speakers.
