Assessment Dates 2025-6

In addition to the school calendar, there are also two points in the academic year where Year 7-10 students will sit in-class assessment known as BET Assessments in every subject. Our Year 11 students will sit subject examination papers in every subject they study in formal exam conditions in the Hall. 

What are BET Assessments?

At various points throughout the year, all students will have common assessment points across every subject. The assessments are sat by every student across Bohunt Education Trust, and what they allow us as a school to do is benchmark our students’ progress across the other Trust schools to provide support/challenge at a class and department level. 

When do the Assessments take place?

The BET Assessments will take place in lessons over a two-week period and you will receive confirmation of when your child’s assessments will take place within this two week period. 

Year 7 Baseline Assessments

For our newest Year 7 cohort, over their first term will complete classroom baseline assessments in English, Maths, and Science alongside Cognitive Ability Testing (CATs). Students cannot complete preparatory work in advance of these tests, and therefore should not feel anxious about completing these assessments. Then data from the assessments are for internal use only, and used by teachers to ensure work is set at an appropriate level and ability for your child in school. 

Year 11 Mock Examinations

Year 11 Students will sit two seasons of Mock Examinations during the school year, the dates can be found below:

GCSE Examinations are expected to start Wednesday 6 May 2026 and the end will be Wednesday 24 June 2026

How can my child prepare for their BET Assessments or Mock Examinations?

In the lessons approaching the assessment windows, all classes will have the opportunity to have ‘re-teach lessons’ where they will revisit topics previously covered in the academic year. These lessons will support your child in preparing for their assessment. For Year 11 students, we will be holding an Information Evening in October to help you support your child in their studies. What happens following the Assessments?

The weeks following assessments are for moderation, where teachers mark and moderate assessments with other teachers across Bohunt Trust. This ensures fairness and consistency. Students will then receive their BET Assessment papers back in their lessons, where they will have the opportunity to complete DIRT (Dedicated Improvement Reflection Time). These assessments will form a part of a teacher’s judgement when completing student academic reports. If a student struggles with a particular assessment, you may find the code ASM as a concern code.
