Uniform

Our school uniform code has taken account of and delivers the DfE statutory guidance: Cost of School Uniforms (November 2021).

Our uniform and PE items are available from our school uniform supplier Broadwater Sports, 37 Broadwater Street West, Worthing, BN14 9BY. Telephone: 01903 234 589 or online at http://www.broadwatersports.co.uk or from https://www.stevensons.co.uk/

Core items may also be available from other school wear suppliers but they must be compliant with the school uniform policy. If you are unsure, please check with the school before purchasing uniform items to ensure they meet the school requirements. Families entitled to free school meals should contact the school to discuss uniform arrangements.

Must Have Logo Items:

  • Blazer: Bottle green blazer with school logo. No other blazer is acceptable – available from uniform suppliers only.
  • Tie: Every student should have a tie in their house colours.
  • Skirt Y7-Y8: Green Tartan Skirt (Only available from our uniform suppliers).
  • Skirt Y9-Y11: Black pleated skirt with school logo available from uniform suppliers, or plain black skirt which is the same pleated design. Skirts should be worn to knee length.
  • P.E. Top: Top with logo and optional embroidered student name – available from uniform suppliers only.

Core Items:

  • Sweater: The school jumper (black, V-necked and with the school logo). No other jumper is acceptable – available from uniform suppliers only.
  • Trousers: Black trousers: ‘suit-style’ i.e. conservatively fitted (not over-tight, flared, loose, low slung, denim, or boot cut), no cotton, denim or cord. No stretch material.
  • Socks: Plain black ankle high.
  • Tights: Plain black or natural – no fishnet or patterned.
  • Footwear: Plain, sensible, smart black shoes (no trainers, heavy boots, canvas shoes, plimsolls, high heeled shoes, backless shoes, opened toe shoes or pumps). Trainer looking or trainer shoes are not permitted.
  • P.E. Shorts/skorts: With logo and optional embroidered student name – available from uniform or plain black shorts or skort (no large logos).
  • P.E. Socks: Plain black sports socks.

P.E. Optional: 

  •  Black ½ zip Micro Fleece With Logo – available from uniform suppliers only (nearly all students choose to have this).
  • Long Sleeve Base Layer
  • Long Sleeve Mid Layer
  • Black Track Pants Fitted
  • Girls Black Leggings
  • Black Tracksuit Bottoms – Loose Fitting
  • Black Cotton Mesh Sports Cap With Logo: available from uniform suppliers only.
  • Shin Pads/Gum Shields (highly recommended when seasonally required).

Specialist kits may be required for specific sports teams.

Uniform Expectations:

Blazers: Blazers are to be worn by all students throughout the day around the school site, unless Summer Uniform has been announced. Badges on blazers must be school-related only (ERA badges or responsibility badges, or badges to identify preferred nouns).

Shirts / Polo Shirts: All shirts must be tucked into trousers or skirts.

Jewellery: Any jewellery must be unobtrusive. One small plain ring, no more than one small matching stud in each earlobe. No other piercings are allowed in school. If a piercing is newly added, a clear retainer must be worn and installed at the time of piercing. No visible chains or necklaces, and ankle/face jewellery should be worn.

Make-up: Make-up should be discreet; neutral colours only. Nail Varnish – discreet colours only. False nails of any type are not allowed in school.

Hair: must be neat and tidy. Long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons in some areas e.g. PE, Science and Design & Technology. Extreme styles or non-natural colours are not permitted, e.g. tram lines or any inappropriate shaving of head hair.

Nails: Nails should be short and natural. Acrylic nails and painted nails are not allowed.

Outside Coats, and bags: Coats to be worn over (not instead of, or under) blazers in cold weather. No hoodies/hooded tops to be worn at all. School Hoodies are only permitted to be worn for specific school trips and linked events. Any motifs or labels on coats or bags etc. must be discreet and inoffensive (i.e. not sexist, racist or relating to drugs culture in any way)

Summer Uniform: The school will communicate where appropriate upon hot days which items of uniform can be removed or changed. We take guidance from local weather forecasts issued by the MET office.
