Y10 return and feature on BBC six o’clock news: 15 June 2020

Monday 15 June 2020 was one of the most important days of the year for secondary schools and we were delighted to have the opportunity to welcome BBC News to our school today. BBC Education Editor Branwen Jeffreys interviewed staff and students about the practicalities of increased provision to year 10.

Mr Whitehead talked about the extensive measures we have in place and the benefits of being an iPad enabled school during lock-down and homeschooling. Year 10 student Ella and her mum were filmed from the start of her first day back and shared their thoughts and concerns about returning to school. Ella started the day apprehensive, nervous and excited, she left the school reassured and happy to see her friends again, albeit at a distance.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff, students and wider community is of the utmost importance to us and our robust measures have proved effective in providing enjoyable learning to the year 10s we welcomed back to school today. It’s been a busy one but everyone is smiling!

We were featured on the BBC six o’clock and ten o’clock news and it was also broadcast on the Radio 4 Six O’Clock News. You can watch the six o’clock news clip below – copyright BBC:
