We will focus on emphasising on speaking/listening/pronunciation and memorising techniques.
Students will learn a variety of topics such as, the introduction of Chinese language embed with China, Chinese people, Chinese culture, introducing Chinese literacy and the foundation of Chinese language, including pinyin, tone, pronunciation, pictogram character, stroke order.
We will encourage the learning interest in Mandarin Chinese language through building confidence in dialogic communication, developing listening and speaking skills, including talking about yourself and family, and opinions about hobbies.
Y8
Students start to develop their understanding of grammar, tenses and sentence structure.
Students will introduce and understand the main topics, including school life, hobbies, travel, weather and Jobs.
Students will also continue developing their learning interest in Mandarin Chinese language through consolidating confidence in speaking and listening skills, building extension on reading skill and writing skills.
KS3 Work
Y9
Students will start by introducing subject specification, theme and topics.
Students will complete part 1 topics by building on previous learning they gained during KS3
Students will start developing spontaneous speaking and extended writing skills.
Y10
Students will complete part 2 topics by building on previous learning they gained during KS3 and Y9
They will focus on speaking and writing productive skills and learning and practising revision and exam skills
Students will also be offered the opportunity to complete a 14 days intensive language learning trip in China, in order to widen horizons and broaden their mindset
Y11
They will focus on how to develop their speaking and writing productive skills during the exam environment.
Students will listen to, read or view a range of materials, including authentic materials in the target language, both to support learning and for personal interest and enjoyment.
There will be a further focus on revision and exam skills. All these will build on what they have completed at KS3, and the key skills and knowledge that have been developed throughout KS4.
