Provider Access Policy

This statement sets out our arrangements for managing the access of providers to students for the purpose of providing them with information about their education and/or work based training.  This policy complies with the School’s statutory duties under sections 42A, 42B, 45 and 45A of the Education Act 1997, as amended by the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022, alongside the 2022 ‘Career Guidance and Access for Education and Training providers’ statutory guidance for schools.

Schools must ensure that there is an opportunity for a range of education and training providers to access students during the relevant phase of their education for the purpose of informing them about approved technical education qualifications or apprenticeships.

Pupil entitlement

Schools must provide the following number of encounters with providers of technical education or apprenticeships following the criteria specified in section 14 of the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022:

● ‘First Key Phase’ (Years 7-9): two encounters with two different providers

● ‘Second Key Phase’ (Years 10-11): two encounters with two different providers

All students in Years 7 to 11 are entitled to find out about, and understand how to make applications for the full range of education and training options available to them, (including technical and apprenticeship qualifications) as part of the School careers programme. This includes hearing from a range of education and training providers about the opportunities they offer, for example through school events, assemblies, school activities, and taster events.

Management of provider access requests

Any provider wishing to request access to the School for the purposes of providing students with information about education and training opportunities should contact the School’s designated Careers lead, Charley Lockie at clockie@bohuntworthing.com

Opportunities for access

Providers are welcome to speak with our designated careers lead to identify the most suitable opportunity for them.  All requests to access students for the purposes of providing information and guidance related to education and training opportunities will be considered on an individual basis, including factors such as whether a suitable opportunity and appropriate facilities are available

Refer to the main careers page for details of internal and external provision

Please speak to our Careers Leader, Charley Lockie, to identify the most suitable opportunity for you.

Premises and facilities

The School will make the main hall, classrooms, or meeting rooms available for discussions between the provider and students as appropriate to the activity.  Providers are welcome to leave a copy of their prospectus or other relevant course literature for display in our careers library, or share an electronic version to be distributed via careers google classroom.
