China is the world’s most dynamic economy and is becoming one of the biggest players in global business. Mandarin is the language of the future and has become a key part of Bohunt School Worthing life! The department offers an extensive programme of fun clubs which helps to boost students’ confidence and language skills as well as stretch their abilities in fun, stimulating and engaging ways. Every year, students have the exciting opportunity to be entered in external Chinese competitions, performing songs and drama in front of Bohunt trust or schools all over the UK. Our intensive language learning trip to China will provide our students with a rounded view of life in the real China and will include a wide variety of educational, cultural, social and outdoor activities ranging from seeing the unmissable attractions in larger cities, Beijing, Xi’an and Xiamen, to spending time in rural areas in developing provinces.

Cross-curricular Links

At Bohunt School Worthing, we foster a strong international ethos in the Languages Department and across the school. The variety of programmes that we organise assists in developing cultural awareness and linguistic skills, which enhance the students’ appreciation and understanding of Mandarin. Students are encouraged to be actively involved in numerous cross-curricular projects as well as international activities, including language showcase and intensive language learning visits, all of which are extremely successful. For Chinese New Year, all students enjoy celebrating traditions, by taking part in a host of fun, interactive and lively workshops organised by different subjects
